About Parrot Pianos

the Story

Since 1981

Malcolm Parrott has been in the piano industry since 1981, giving him over 40 years experience.

From school, he went to the London College of Furniture to study musical instrument technology where he gained ONC and City & Guilds in musical instrument technology and stringed keyboard manufacture.

On leaving college he went to work for Steinway and Sons at their Park Royal Service Centre in London. The work there involved the restoration of Steinway grand pianos and piano case restoration.

After 10 years with Steinway, Malcolm moved on to work for Welmar Pianos in Clapham, London. He became head of the finishing department there from 1996 until the factory closed in 2000.

He then joined the Piano Workshop in Reigate. Here he gained an even more comprehensive knowledge working on all makes and models of piano until the owner retired in 2016.

Since 2016 Malcolm has worked in conjunction with Bonners Ltd. based within their Reigate piano centre.

Malcolm has an extensive knowledge of a whole range of brands of pianos and will take time to talk to customers truthfully about the pros and cons of any make, thus ensuring each customer gets the correct piano suited to their needs and home. In addition, as needs must, Malcolm has helped move many pianos so can advise on this process for most situations.
